Rest Points in Eternity

"What happens when a revelation of great magnitude bursts upon a person's consciousness?"

Stefan Garris Meyer is the author of three books. His first book, The Experimental Arabic Novel is a scholarly survey of postcolonial modernist literature in the Middle East. His second book, The Lost Slipper of Soul, is a contemporary sequel to Hermann Hesse’s celebrated novel, The Journey to the East, that focuses on the League, an ancient spiritual teaching which has taken the form of a new age religion. His third book, Rest Points in Eternity, is an exploration of identity that examines the main character’s connections with both his genealogical family and the lingering personality of T. E. Lawrence, known to the world as Lawrence of Arabia.

It can be said that a man is not actually born when he comes out of the female body, since he doesn’t know yet that he is born. He is actually born when he first obtains the knowledge of his birth. So it is when a revelation of great magnitude bursts upon a person’s consciousness with the power to change his trajectory in life and introduce into it an entirely new factor of causation. This book centers on such a revelation. The ultimate lesson of this experience is that we are all on, and have been on, a mission. That mission is to help others find spiritual freedom, and by doing so to gain freedom for ourselves.

Stefan Meyer’s body of work to date bears comparison with T. E. Lawrence’s three major pieces of writing: Crusader Castles, Seven Pillars of Wisdom, and The Mint. A careful reading of the works of these two writers will reveal similar preoccupations that transcend the vastly differing cultural and historical contexts in which they were written. With his last two books, Stefan Meyer has claimed a place as a contemporary writer of courage and spiritual stature.
